Daniel Assouline, After UpClick, Is Finding Innovative Solutions To Newer Threats

Daniel Assouline at UpClick offered public a solution that made online payments simple.

Now he is fighting another battle. He is helping computer users grapple malware that sneaks into their system through unwanted pop-up advertisements.

Is it not often that people have downloaded a popular application only to experience strange behavior by their computers?

More often than not, internet browsers have crashed, forcing users to shut their computers repeatedly.

What really happens?

Even if you intentionally download a program, you run the risk of downloading smaller applications called adware.

Some proponents say adware is innocuous, but they are not.

If adware is legitimate, the ad functions get bundled into the program and perform justifiable actions. For businesses, adware is a tool to recover costs.

However, we must understand that while serving up advertisements they also wreak havoc.

According to Daniel Assouline, adware is not just an irritant, it is an “online threat”. Information technology experts rate adware as serious as computer viruses and Trojans.

Adware can be even more hazardous than viruses, as it observes the computer users’ activity without their consent and reports information to the adware’s author known as spyware.

Daniel Assouline’s powerful solution Ad-Aware detects, and quarantines and removes ads harboring malware with great effectiveness.

Today, people need best malware protection, as almost every important task is perfumed on the computer.

As Chairman and Co-founder of UpClick, Daniel Assouline has made significant contributions. He is presently CEO of Lavasoft, an anti-spyware development company.

Daniel Assouline, the CEO of Montreal based UpClick.com, is a natural born leader towards whom people can always look up for guidance, support, and motivation.

Care and concern for people are often the chief differentiators between successful and unsuccessful leaders. No leaders can achieve anything worthwhile without the support and help of their followers. It is the people who make or break a leader.

Great leaders have a vision and a strong sense of purpose. These two very important characteristics of good leadership will, however, count for little if the leader fails to strike a chord with the followers. Vision can only turn into reality if you have the love, trust, and respect of your employees.

Bad leaders blinded to reason by their hubris often treat their employees as a capital that can be leveraged to increase the bottom line of the organization. Good leaders on the other hand know the importance of their subordinates and treat them as important resources that need careful tending and nurturing.

Daniel Assouline Keeps the Or Shalom Dream Alive with a Liberal Donation

Daniel AssoulineThe Sephardic Association of West Island Montreal (ASBOM) was founded on Nov. 15, 1977 by three experienced Community gentlemen, AYACHE Charles, Maurice ELMALEH, and Raphael Serfaty. The first two presided over the young association for seven years from 1977 to 1984, while Raphael continues to work within the organization until date.

The ASBOM comprised a few Minyan families who were just beginning to settle in the West Island. The ASBOM held the first few meetings in the office of Beth Tikvah on Friday nights and Saturdays. As the organization started to grow steadily, we started to organize prayers and grand feasts for the community. This was initially held at Beth Tikvah in the first year and later we moved the program to Chalet Park Terry Fox. We later loaned the Boulevard des Sources. We shortly acquired our first house of worship at 102, rue Roger Pilon in Dollard des Ormeaux. This place served as ASBOM center for six long years before we finally settled at 96, rue Fredmer us in 1991.

During the 1980s, as the Kahal began its steady growth, discussions were held to decide whether to partner with Beth Tikvah or to start our own construction project. The decision was made to embark on a construction project. It was started, but did not progress much further.

In 1991, as the steady growth of our Kahal continued unhindered, ASBOM started a fund-raising program with the support of members of Dollard. The intent was to raise money to acquire Temple Rodeph Shalom, located at 96 Fredmir. The place was now available for sale. With extensive renovations, we added the name of Gold Shalom to this newly acquired and renovated synagogue.

We served 96 Fredmir in its original function for 18 years. Hazzan David Azoulay was with us during this period and served the organization with complete commitment and devotion before retiring in 2009.

We approached various boards of directors and their presidents, and even conducted a campaign building fund in 1998 to raise funds to pay our mortgage.

Our first dream was realized when our mortgage was paid in full just before Passover in 2003 and one year ahead of our repayment schedule.

We finally became owners of our own building with the commitment of our association and the financial contribution and unwavering support of our members.

Sometime later, in 2005, we chose our first permanent Rabbi, who was Rabbi Avraham MARUANI.

A second construction project had been planned in the mid-2000s. After the acquisition of additional land adjacent to our synagogue, we prepared new plans for our new sanctuary and obtained a building permit. In April 2009, we completed the laying of the first stone to build a new sanctuary next to the old. It has become a day care called ‘Or Shalom’. Our dream of the great feasts for the year 5770 (2009-2010) finally became a reality.

This new dream was the ultimate outcome of hard work, constructive input, and support of all the presidents and their boards in the past three decades.

Our new facility was renamed the “Community Center Assouline” after a generous donation from Mr. Daniel Assouline. The family of Assouline is modern in their outlook and practical. The new facility is beautiful, bright, airy, and well-suited to our present and future needs. It can accommodate over 500 people in the sanctuary.

A party room called the Ballroom Saleh, a small chapel, and administrative offices were completed in 2010.

Or Shalom stands tall as one of the most beautiful synagogues in the West Island. It is also the only Sephardic synagogue in this vast region.

The liturgical knowledge combined with the modern approach of Rabbi Avraham MARUANI and Hazan Mr. Orel Gozlan helps us in serving all members, regardless of their degree of knowledge and participation, access to the study, and religious practice within the framework of our religion. This project is a testament to the sacrifices made by our parents and grandparents, and the success and continuity of our generation and those to follow.

You are invited to visit our new website for everything Or Shalom has to offer.

Baruch Haba takes pleasure in welcoming you to our virtual site and in person at our new “Community Center Assouline.”
